Causes for Dental Implant Failures

A dental implant is installed to a patient in replacement of a lost or a removed tooth. This makes a person look like as if his or her set of teeth is complete and makes the person look more attractive. Other than that, there are also health reasons as to why such is implanted. One is to enable a person to eat properly and another is to aid him or her while speaking, among many others.

The result of such treatment, and the implant itself, is long lasting that it can even last up to the individual’s lifetime. However, it takes a successful operation to achieve that output.

A dental implant failure may occur for several reasons. As they see it, the other implants could have been placed in bacteria-free areas while the failed one must have been implanted directly on an infected spot. As it is screwed on the bone, the bacteria must have gotten out and caused the inflammation of the gum.

Another cause of failure, according to Houston dental implant specialists is the patient’s neglect for the implant or poor dental hygiene habits. The implant surgeon gives a set of post-operation instructions to the patient. If the patient fails to follow them, then it will be hard to maintain and monitor the implant which could cause an infection, which could eventually lead to failure.
